Do you remember when the world was going to end in 2000 when all the computers would stop working and the lives of everyone around the globe would be thrown into chaos? Well, it didn’t happen and guess what, it’s not going to happen. The big ball will fall in just a few days and bring with it the promise of a new year. Unfortunately, my prediction is that 2024 will be filled with as much turmoil and strife as 2023. What will happen is each of us will eventually get a year older. This is where I think people like me, who have a birthday in late December, have a distinct advantage. I will be the youngest person in my age group for almost the entire year.
If you think that having a December birthday is not an advantage, you need to think again. I get bragging rights with all of my friends and still get the senior discount at the movies. I can plan and think about what I want for my birthday for almost a year.
There are a number of other advantages to having a December birthday for me except one. It’s the one reason I can think of that makes me get the short end of the stick at Christmas. When I was a kid and got a gift on my birthday it was always followed by the statement,” Remember, this is one of your Christmas gifts as well.”
