The Mirror published the first “Buzz” article in May of 2011 and I have written an article every week since then. This year, 2026, has a number of other milestones for me. I have now been in the practice of medicine for 51 years, celebrated my 60th wedding anniversary and acknowledge that I have been on this planet for 80 years.
The content of my articles has, for the most part, been related to pulmonary issues and I will continue to include them in the future but going forward I am going to mix up the topics a bit. I will continue to talk about medical issues and diseases but not always about the lungs. I would also like to include some personal observations and editorial comments from time to time.
One of my current responsibilities is as the Chief Medical Officer for a large national company spread out in Florida, Texas, Louisiana, Arizona, Nevada, Kansas and even North Dakota. Dealing with medical issues from cities large and small, urban and rural has given me an interesting perspective on how medicine is practiced and what the future could hold as government and technology mold and change the practice of medicine as I knew it when I started in this profession.
I hope you continue to read my articles. I continue to enjoy writing them. The challenge has always been to make a difficult subject understandable and interesting. Let’s see if I can continue to do it for a while longer.
